Our Story

From 16hrs For Life to the Metabolic Comeback Method

What if reclaiming our health was less about eating less, and more about eating differently?

Where it began

It started with a simple question

16hrs For Life was born from a growing recognition that many of the health challenges people face today are closely connected to the way we eat.

For decades, we've been encouraged to eat frequently, count calories, avoid fat and rely on highly processed convenience foods. Yet obesity, type 2 diabetes and other metabolic health problems have become increasingly common.

We believed there had to be a better approach.

One grounded in the biology of the human body, an understanding of how food influences metabolic health, and the ability to make sustainable changes without spending a lifetime following restrictive diets.

That belief became the foundation of 16hrs For Life.

The beginning

Changing when and what we eat

Our approach began with two powerful principles: intermittent fasting and a return to real, nutrient-dense food.

Intermittent fasting offered a practical way to reduce constant eating and create regular periods without food, while improving food quality helped people move away from the highly processed products that had become everyday staples.

We focused on simplicity.

Eat real food. Prioritise protein and healthy fats. Reduce refined carbohydrates and unnecessary snacking. Give your body time between meals.

But more importantly, understand why you're making these changes.

The objective was never simply to lose weight.

It was to improve metabolic health and help people develop a different relationship with food — one based on nourishment, understanding and personal responsibility rather than deprivation.

A turning point

From knowledge to lasting change

As 16hrs For Life developed, something became increasingly clear.

Knowing what to do and consistently doing it are two very different things.

People often begin their health journey with determination and enthusiasm. But changing habits established over decades requires more than information.

It requires practical skills, guidance, accountability and an environment that supports change.

We also recognised that metabolic health extends beyond nutrition. Physical activity, sleep quality and stress management all influence how our bodies function and how successfully we maintain new habits.

Nutrition remained our foundation, but our approach needed to embrace the bigger picture.

This understanding shaped the next chapter of our journey.

The evolution

The Metabolic Comeback Method

The Metabolic Comeback Method was developed as the natural evolution of 16hrs For Life.

It brought together the principles we had been teaching into a structured, practical 12-week coaching programme designed to help people make meaningful and lasting changes to their metabolic health.

Rather than offering another temporary diet, we built a programme around education, implementation and ongoing support. Our approach rests on four connected pillars:

The foundation

Nutrition First

Real, nutrient-dense whole foods form the foundation of our method. We emphasise adequate protein, naturally occurring fats, carbohydrate awareness and intermittent fasting where appropriate. Our goal is to help people understand how their food choices affect hunger, energy, blood glucose and long-term metabolic health.

Movement for Life

Movement supports metabolic health, muscle preservation, strength and physical independence. We encourage regular physical activity, resistance training and building movement naturally into daily life.

Restorative Sleep

Quality sleep plays an important role in appetite regulation, glucose metabolism, recovery and overall wellbeing. We help participants recognise the importance of sleep and develop habits that support better rest.

Managing Stress

Chronic stress can disrupt sleep, influence eating behaviours and make lifestyle changes more difficult to sustain. Developing practical ways to manage stress is therefore an important part of our approach.

Four pillars. One foundation: better nutrition. One objective: sustainable metabolic health.

Today

A more personal approach to better health

Today, the Metabolic Comeback Method combines structured education with practical coaching, personalised guidance and accountability.

Participants learn to understand their own health, monitor meaningful changes and develop the confidence to make informed decisions.

We use technology and nutritional tracking tools where useful, but technology is never the objective.

The objective is independence.

We want people to finish the programme not simply having followed instructions for 12 weeks, but understanding how to manage their eating habits and lifestyle long after the coaching has ended.

Our definition of success is not dependence on another programme.

It's the ability to take ownership of your health.

What's next

Bringing metabolic health into healthcare

Our journey is continuing.

One of our current areas of development is a clinic support programme designed to help healthcare practitioners provide patients with practical, structured lifestyle support.

Medical practitioners frequently encounter patients dealing with obesity, insulin resistance, type 2 diabetes and related metabolic conditions.

Clinical advice is important, but patients often need additional support to turn recommendations into sustainable daily habits.

Our vision is to help bridge that gap.

By combining the Metabolic Comeback Method's structured education, coaching and accountability with appropriate medical oversight, we aim to support healthcare professionals in helping their patients make meaningful lifestyle changes.

This is an evolving initiative, built on the same principles that shaped 16hrs For Life from the beginning.

The person behind 16hrs For Life

Shaun Waso

I'm Shaun Waso, founder of 16hrs For Life and creator of the Metabolic Comeback Method.

My background is in industrial engineering, business leadership and systems design. Much of my professional life has been spent understanding complex problems, identifying what drives outcomes and developing practical systems that deliver results.

My interest in metabolic health grew from my own experiences and an increasing awareness of the relationship between modern eating habits and chronic metabolic disease.

I came to recognise that improving health was not simply about willpower or calorie restriction. It involved understanding physiology, questioning established habits and creating an approach that people could realistically incorporate into their lives.

That systems-thinking background has strongly influenced how I developed the Metabolic Comeback Method.

I believe sustainable improvements in health require more than motivation. They require the right knowledge, clear processes, practical tools and consistent support.

My purpose is to make that knowledge and support accessible to as many people as possible.

Our mission

Our mission has never changed

16hrs For Life began with a conviction that people could improve their health by changing their relationship with food.

That conviction remains at the heart of everything we do.

The Metabolic Comeback Method is how we have taken that original philosophy and developed it into a more comprehensive, structured and scalable approach.

Our ambition is to help more people understand their metabolism, improve their health and build habits that serve them for life.

We believe health should not be a constant battle against hunger, guilt or confusion.

It should be built on knowledge, nourishing food, movement, restorative sleep and sustainable habits.

16hrs For Life is where our journey began.
The Metabolic Comeback Method is how we're taking it forward.
